VIDEO OVERVIEW, QUICK START VIDEO
Are you developing an open world game with huge landscapes? Do you want to procedurally paint your 100 square km landscape in 2 minutes? If this is the case, this pack is exactly what you need. This UE5 pack is designed to help you texture and populate with foliage your open world landscape in just a few clicks. Doing this manually, this task would require days or even weeks (depending on your landscape size) and the final results would not be as good as using this procedural system. This pack gives you access to an auto-material with 12 layers (cliffs, grass with and without 3d foliage, sand, dirt, gravel, cobblestone, forest ground, leaves etc.) and beside this you get all the necessary setup and static meshes to procedurally populate with trees and rocks your entire level in a few clicks.
This pack is perfect for any outdoor scene in Unreal Engine 5.
The assets are as optimized as possible but let's not forget that Lumen is real time global illumination system so for lower end computers, there will be performance issues. For those cases I recommend the following changes into Project Settings - Rendering: 1. disable Lumen, 2. disable reflection or change it from Lumen to Screen space 3. replace Virtual Shadow Maps with Shadow Maps (this alone will give you at least 10-15 fps more). As soon as foliage will be nanite enabled in engine, all those optimization issues will disappear.
The automatic landscape material is designed in such a way that for all 12 layers, there are 2 level of details: one level which is very detailed, when the player is closer to the texture and another one which is less detailed, when the player is further away from the texture. This way, the player will always see the right amount of details, as it is natural.
For the last LOD, the trees have 2d Billboards with only 2 triangles, so basically you can add as many trees as you want without a significant loss of performance from the far away trees.
The landscape from the Demo Level is a real-world heightmap from USA with an 8K resolution and a surface area of about 64 square Km. This pack works perfectly with any type of landscape (designed in Unreal Engine with it's built in tools or created from a heightmap). Of course for more realistic results I would recommend a real world heightmap which you can find if you check my other packs.
