Base Shaders is a comprehensive collection of seven post-process materials designed to elevate the visual quality and artistic expression of your Unreal Engine project. With this powerful collection at your disposal, you can effortlessly transform the look and feel of your scenes, unlocking new possibilities for creativity.
One of the standout features of this shader collection is the ability to enable unlit rendering. By utilizing the unlit shader, you can bypass the standard lighting calculations and showcase your assets with their original colors and textures. This is particularly useful when you want to emphasize the intrinsic qualities of your objects or achieve a specific visual style that doesn't rely on lighting effects.
For those seeking a clean and sterile aesthetic, the collection includes three ambient occlusion shaders. By isolating ambient occlusion, these shaders enhance the perception of depth and shadows in your scenes.
Captivate an audience with the grayscale shader and evoke a range of emotions and moods. This shader removes the color information from your scenes, leaving behind a monochromatic palette that emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow. The grayscale shader adds a timeless quality to your project, enabling you to create visually stunning compositions that evoke a sense of artistic depth and sophistication.
The normal world shader provides a unique twist to your scenes by rendering the world normal similarly to how you would view a normal map texture. The flat shading brings out the individual mesh faces, giving your objects a faceted appearance that can be reminiscent of the low poly style.
I have prepared a tutorial called How to Add Post Process Material to help simplify the process of implementing these materials into your project.
To prevent flickering and ensure that the ambient occlusion shaders works well in Unreal Engine 5; set the global illumination to none, and anti-aliasing to FXAA or none.
