Introducing The Obsidian Archive Volume 1. This sound pack is an excellent tool for quickly scoring video games and film. The pack focuses on a cinematic term known as the “underscore” Picture this scenario that is often encountered in both games and film.
You have a darker, more minor scene in your game/film. You need to nail the mood to immerse the player. You first try and just put an ambient drone and it's too light. Then you try to put an orchestral music loop, but it’s too intense.
What you need is an underscore.
Underscore tracks are unique music tracks that provide a soundscape. Using a combination of weird sounds, drones, and pulsing rhythms you can create the perfect soundscape to immerse your player without being too heavy or too light. This is how immersion works and turns your game/film into an experience instead of just another game/film.
The sound pack consists of 3 tools.
Music Builder: This is where all of the underscores are located for building that perfect immersion.
Level Builder: This engine focuses on setting the actual ambience of the level and works in tandem with the music builder. For example, a player starts a new level and is immediately hit with a dark drone mimicking an old church. Just as the player starts to explore the new level an underscore hits from the music builder that now foreshadows danger is lurking ahead. This engine also contains some sound effects to add targeted hits and ambience when necessary. There are 5 levels including a church, city, asylum, room, and a warehouse. Each scene has its own creepy vibe and excellent sound effects that keep the player engaged.
Climax Builder: The beauty of immersion in horror games is that it gets the player in a trance which makes the final scare all the better. This sound pack includes standard horror risers and hits to finish your level/scene out with a bang.
