The Spruce&Larch Pack is a full production-ready assets, with high-quality photoscanned textures, custom LODs, and the advanced PivotPainter2.0 wind system. 



Most of the wind parameters such as: strength, direction, sway of the trunk, branches and leaves, global noise affecting all the assets are customizable, and can also be supplemented with your settings. Custom LODs provide good optimization for versions 4.26-5.0, and Nanites are included for version 5.1. Also the pack is complemented by such effects as falling leaves and fallen leaves. 



All textures, including foliage, are made by photoscanning, so they have high quality and resolution, a full set of textures in the PBR standard, as well as convey the character and diversity of real trees.



Each tree contains up to 39k (LOD_0) triangles, has four custom LODs, each with 50% of triangles from the previous one. The last LOD is a billboard that follows the camera and is always facing the camera.


Each Asset has 2-5 (1-4 for 5.1 ) materials including a billboard, which contributes to fewer drawcalls and better optimization.


Also the assets have lightmap, but still, artifacts can occur when baking light and the resolution of the lightmap is better to increase or use dynamic lighting.


In addition to the trees themselves, 4 landscape texture options are added for demonstration purposes. These assets are not the basis of this product and are likely to be used in other products, for demonstration purposes.

What is the difference between the versions of the projects:


If you don't use Nanite Foliage, you need to download the 4.26 version, and then, if you want to use the pack in version 5.0, make a migrate. In Spruce_Trees_Pack_5_1 all assets are converted to Nanites, and the LODs, billboards materials and billboard textures, and displacement in the lanscape material are removed(Height map remains). This version is fully ready to use in 5.1!



Optimization: The package was tested on a laptop with CPU i7 12700H and GPU RTX 3070, 32GB RAM (1920x1080), as well as a PC with CPU 5950x and GPU RTX 3060+2060 Super, 64GB RAM. In both cases the 4.26 version of the project showed more than 60 FPS in any of the locations, while the 5.1 version showed about 25-30 FPS. 


Important! : Demo_forest map Version 5.1 only powerfull PC. (GPU 3070 and powerfully)


If you are going to use the pack on a less powerful PC and there will be problems when running maps, you can remove Foliage Type grass, as the maps "Demo_forest" about 250k instances of grass
